Record number in Inverness Garden

Inverness Garden was packed to the brim when the CTRAA held its annual autumn party on 11 September, with the 100+ members and guests enjoying the warmth, the sunshine and the wine.

In contrast to the CTRAA summer party on 18 May, which had to be moved indoors because of all the rain, the autumn party in Inverness Garden on 11 September was blessed with constant sunshine and warmth. As our chairman, Charles Penney, observed, our early summer parties tend to be held on the last day before summer, while our autumn parties tend to extend summer.

With more than a hundred members and guests squeezing in, it was the largest party we’ve ever had in the rather small garden. Guests of honour were the MP for Kensington, Victoria Borwick, our veteran ward councillor, Robert Freeman, who finished a year as mayor of Kensington in May, and the vicar of St Mary Abbots, Gillean Craig, who was appointed prebendary of St Paul’s Cathedral earlier this year.

We also heard of an unidentified local resident who is allowing his/her dog to roam the roofs rather than taking it for a proper walk!

Chestertons very generously sponsored the autumn party with Huntsworth Wine once again supplying the wine at cost.
